No. StopSmith works with Google Calendar and with any calendar that has a subscription link, such as iCloud, Outlook or a booking tool. Checking requests, drive times and the day, week and month views all work the same way.

If you do use Rover, StopSmith also reads your Rover calendar, checks your pending requests for you and keeps an address book for your Rover clients.

No. StopSmith is an independent tool. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Rover. It works with the calendar link Rover gives every sitter.

No. StopSmith only reads your Rover calendar. It never signs in to Rover and never changes your bookings. Accepting requests, messaging clients and getting paid all stay in Rover, as Rover's rules require.

On rover.com, open the menu under your name, choose Calendar, then Sync your calendar, and copy the link. In the Rover app it's under Service Settings, then Calendar, then Sync your calendar. StopSmith walks you through it when you connect.

Rover's calendar includes the time and the pets for each booking, but not the address. You add each client's address once, and StopSmith uses it for all of that client's visits. A link on each booking opens it in Rover, so you can copy the address from there.

Yes, requests that are waiting for your answer appear in your Rover calendar, and StopSmith checks each one against your schedule automatically. You can also check any request by hand, including repeating ones.

StopSmith estimates each drive from open map data, adjusted to match typical traffic, and remembers the results so they come back quickly. Estimates are close for most drives, but they can't know about today's accidents or road work.

To leave yourself some room, set your extra time between stops in Settings: none, 5, 10 or 15 minutes.

• Fits: 10 minutes or more to spare, after the drive and your extra time.
• Tight: you can make it, with less than 10 minutes to spare.
• Conflict: it overlaps something, or you can't get there in time.

Enter an area instead, such as a neighborhood or ZIP code. StopSmith adds 5 minutes to drives to or from an approximate place and shows those times as “about.”

StopSmith works in your phone's web browser, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app. On an iPhone, open StopSmith in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome and choose Add to Home screen from the menu.
